Talk Internet

Talk InternetAbout Talk Internet
Talk Internet were providing ‘Cloud Computing Services’ long before the current buzz word had even been thought of, delivering hosted and managed service expertise to in excess of 10,000 business users, via an established and rapidly expanding partner channel, since 1995.
Talk Internet handles everything from off-site co-location footprint to the provision of hosted and, where required, fully managed business critical servers, under comprehensive SLAs underpinned by their in-house 24x7x365 technical support team.

Partner Objectives
Through effective partnering in all areas, additional services supporting the Talk Internet proposition include dial-up to leased line connectivity and bandwidth management, data management and security, web and mail hosting, not to mention business continuity and disaster recovery.
Talk Internet is proud of its’ customer retention record and recognises the need to provide transparency in all areas in order to build and maintain trusted long-term relationships with their partners.
An example of both the transparency and building a long-term partnership can be seen with Talk Internets’ ongoing commitment to hosting their services within Internet Facilitators (IFL) Manchester existing and future data centres.
Having established an initial foot hold in the IFL2 data centre a few years back, at a time when Talk Internet was experiencing significant growth, Managing Director Simon Jones was clear in his requirement to meet both their long-term strategy, as well as short to medium term expansion demands when selecting a suitable hosting facility.
“It was important that all of the traditional hosting bases were covered in the first instance and IFL’s impressive core infrastructure, with excellent N+1 power, cooling, fire detection and suppression systems, together with high quality on-site technical support and security management capabilities gave me sufficient confidence to locate both our customers and our own equipment within an initial Talk Internet dedicated six rack secure caged area.”

Accommodating Growth

This initial investment ensured that Talk Internet’s short term needs were met and their ongoing growth managed through two further phases of adding additional caged rack space.“That said,” commented Jones “ We were continually looking to add to our service portfolio with business continuity / DR options as well as yet further raw footprint. It was necessary for me to see that our data centre partners’ growth strategy matched our own.”

IFLs long term commitment to expanding their data centre network with a third Manchester location in 2010, as well as additional regional space throughout the UK means that Talk Internet’s proposition to their partners continues to develop in line with Jones’ expectations with options for site to site system mirroring and data replication supported by a consistent data centre infrastructure.

Mutual Success
Matthew Edgley, IFL Sales Manager says “As much of our business is achieved through the Partner channel it’s key for us to be seen as a trusted supplier - one that can work with our Partners without providing direct competition for the same business.  Our focus on pure colocation services means we can work with clients such as Talk Internet to attract clients into the data centre – these clients gain the value of our Partners’ core business services built on and delivered from the solid foundations of IFL data centres”.
Jones’ summarised by saying that “A key part of our confidence in continuing to partner with IFL has been the excellent, non-contentious working relationship that has built up over a number of years. IFL concentrate on their core competency of providing high quality co-location footprint, leaving their partners to add value and grow their presence within their data centres.”
